“Everyone thinks they have the best dog. And none of them are wrong.”
— W.R. Purche

Tail Wag Walkers is a fully-insured, family-owned dog care company. We offer dog walking, doggie day care/boarding, bathing & brushing for your fuzzy family.

Frequently Asked Questions

What makes Tail Wag Walkers unique?
  • Tail Wag Walkers is locally owned by Nancy and Jessica Largent, a dog-loving mother and 13-year-old daughter team. We do not have any other employees helping us with dog walks or dog care, so when you hire Tail Wag Walkers, you know exactly who is caring for your dog… us!
  • We only have one dog in our care at one time, (or two dogs if they are already part of a family or friends), and they are considered part of our family. They are never left alone or crated while staying with us (unless your pup prefers their crate, which you are welcome to bring.) Therefore, your pup receives our full attention the entire time they are with us, and their individual needs are always met.
  • Our doggie day care and boarding takes place in our very dog-friendly home, instead of a facility. There are lots of comfy places for your dog to rest, including doggie beds, floor pillows, two sofas, two bean bag chairs, and two people beds, and many types of dog toys for them to play with.
  • We frequently text you updates about how your pup is doing throughout their stay with us. We know first-hand how stressful it is being away from your fur baby, and how much you miss them, so we make sure to communicate with you often and let you know how your pup is doing throughout their stay with us.
  • We use an Apple Air Tag attached to the dog’s collar during dog walks. Although we have never had a dog get loose while under our care, in the rare case that it might happen, we can easily track the dog so they will never go missing. It’s just one more precaution that we take to make sure that your pup is always safe while in our care.
  • Tail Wag Walkers helps support local animal shelters from a percentage of the proceeds we earn with our dog care services. When you support us, you support rescue animals at Beautiful Together Animal Sanctuary, Paws4Ever and Orange County Animal Services!
  • We always pick up and properly dispose of any dog waste, and only use biodegradable and compostable “poop bags” to lessen the impact on our environment from plastic bags.
  • We offer discount packages for multiple days, as well as a sliding scale for dog care based on need. We strongly believe that high-quality dog care should be affordable for dog owners of all income levels.
How do you communicate with clients when a dog is under your care?

We understand it can be stressful to have your fur baby cared for by others, and that you miss them terribly when you are away from them. Therefore, Tail Wag Walkers will communicate with you frequently when your dog is under our care, text you lots of photos, videos, and updates throughout their stay, and put your mind at ease knowing that your pup is happy and safe. You are also more than welcome to reach out to us anytime to check in on your best friend for updates.

We also use an app called DoggyLogs which sends our clients a very detailed text and email about each dog walk we take with your fuzzy family. Using GPS, it maps our dog walking route and tracks the duration of the walk so you know exactly where we walked and for how long. It also sends photos from the walk, a note about the walk, a checklist of what we did on the walk, and what “doggie business” was accomplished. Our clients love getting their DoggyLog notifications after our fun walk with them around the neighborhood!

Does Tail Wag Walkers have insurance?

Yes, we are fully-insured by Liberty Mutual Small Business Insurance for all domestic animals in our care.

How much does Tail Wag Walkers charge for their dog care services?
  • Dog Walking: $15/30-minute walk.
  • Doggie Day Care & Overnight Boarding: $5/hour,  $15/4-hours, $25/8-hours, $35/overnight
  • Dog Bathing & Brushing: $5/bath, $5/brush, $10/both
  • Pick-up & Delivery: $5/each way

Tail Wag Walkers offers discount packages for multiple days, as well as a sliding scale for dog care based on need. Because this is a labor of love, and not our main source of income, we can be flexible about our rates. We are more than happy to help make the cost of dog care more affordable to those who need it. We also have clients who offer to pay more than our posted rates for our services, knowing that their additional contributions are going in part towards supporting animals rescues.

Why are your rates so much lower than other local dog care providers?

Tail Wag Walkers is a labor of love, not our main source of income. Additionally, we believe high-quality dog care should be affordable for dog owners of all income levels. Also, Jessica and I benefit greatly from all the puppy love we receive from our many fuzzy clients — you really can’t put a price on that! Therefore, we charge enough to cover expenses, and still be able to donate a percentage of our proceeds to local animal shelters. We also offer a sliding scale for our services, if requested.

What type of payment do you accept and how do I pay you for services?

Payment is required after dog care services are provided — when your dog is returned to you at the end of a walk or at the end of a doggie daycare stay. We accept cash, personal checks, or digital payments through Venmo @TailWag-Walkers, ApplePay (nanlargent@gmail.com), PayPal, or Cash App ($NancyLargent).

What is Tail Wag Walker's cancellation policy?

Tail Wag Walkers is very understanding if you need to cancel a dog care appointment for any reason. While we prefer at least 24-hours notice, you will never be charged for last-minute cancellations.

Does Tail Wag Walkers walk dogs in any weather, rain or shine?

Tail Wag Walkers will walk dogs in any weather — hot, cold, wet, dry — unless we feel like it would be dangerous for us or your pet to be outside. For example, we will not walk pups during a thunderstorm, an ice storm, or any other severe weather alert. Also, it is not safe to exercise dogs if the temperature outside exceeds 90º F, since they have no ability to sweat and can overheat easily in very hot weather. If it is hot and humid outside, we will shorten the walk and come right back inside after they do their business. If we have to cancel a dog walk due to inclement weather, we will try to give you as much notice as possible, and reschedule the dog walk for the next convenient time.

All dogs have different weather tolerances, depending on their breed and temperament. If a dog wilts in the heat, is freezing in the cold, or is miserable in the rain, we will either accommodate them by using a cool collar on hot days, a dog coat (if one can be provided) on cold days, walk under an umbrella in the rain, or we will shorten the walk and head home as soon as they have done their business. We never force dogs to walk with us if they are really not enjoying it or pulling to go home. However, if a dog loves splashing in puddles during a downpour, we will splash right along with them!

      What are your dog requirements?
      • All Dogs Must Have a Current License (Rabies Tag), Vaccinations, and ID Tags on Their Collar
          • Rabies: 1 or 3 year vaccine
          • Distemper: 1 or 3 year vaccine
          • Bordetella: Every 6 months
          • Fecal: Negative every 1 year
      • All Dogs Must Have a Local Veterinarian
In case there is an emergency, we need to have the contact information of your local vet on file.
      • All Dogs Must Be Currently Taking Flea, Tick & Heartworm Prevention Medication
We require all dogs to currently be on flea, tick and heartworm preventative medication, for the safety of not only your pup, but also for the other pups staying for daycare.
      • We do accept puppies, and do not require dogs to be spayed or neutered.
      Do you offer dog training?

While we are not licensed dog trainers, we are happy to help your dog improve mild behavioral issues and also teach them commands and tricks, upon request.

Do you have any other pets in your home?

The only animals who live with us in our home are the fish and snails in the two, fresh-water aquariums in Jessica’s room. Dogs who stay with us for doggie day care or overnight boarding are the only fuzzy friends in our home during their stay.

Do you offer pet care or pet sitting for other animals besides dogs?

While we focus mainly on dog care, we love all animals, and are available to care for cats, birds, and other pets, as well.

      What are your COVID-19 policies?

Due to the ongoing risk of COVID-19, we have adapted our business to make sure everyone, humans and dogs included, stays safe. Therefore, we do not currently offer overnight pet sitting in your home. We are happy to host your pup at our home for doggie day care and overnight boarding. Nancy, Jessica and Nancy’s husband Doug are fully vaccinated and boosted. All bedding, food bowls, water bowls, and toys are cleaned thoroughly between canine guests. For dog walking services, if you are home, we prefer you bring your pet outside, already leashed, to meet us. If you are not home, we will quickly pick up your dog, and after our walk, quickly return them to your home, wearing masks the entire time. We also thoroughly sanitize our hands before and after using your dog’s leash. We take coronavirus very seriously, both in our business and in our personal lives, and we are very strict about limiting our exposure as much as possible.
