Our Story

When my daughter Jessica was nine years old, she wanted to do something to help support our local animal shelters. She came up with the idea for Tail Wag Walkers, a dog walking business where most of the proceeds earned would go towards supporting Paws4Ever, an animal shelter located in Mebane, NC. Her business was an overnight success, and at our busiest, Jessica and I were walking dogs nine times a week after school and on weekends. With the money she earned, Jessica was able to become a monthly “Angel” sustainer for Paws4Ever, sponsoring numerous cats and dogs who were looking for their forever homes.

When COVID-19 arrived here in March, our clients ended up being home with their dogs all day and no longer needed help with dog walks. We missed our fuzzy clients, but our own rescue pup, a 15 year-old pit lab mix named Truffles, (who inspired our logo and is featured in the photos on this page), was thrilled to have us home so much!

Sadly, on November 29, 2020, we had to say goodbye to our sweet Truffles. It was heartbreaking. We knew we weren’t ready to adopt another dog anytime soon. We also knew we would fail as foster parents, because we would end up keeping them all. However, we missed having a dog in our lives, especially having a dog in our home.

Jessica had the idea of adding doggie day care and overnight boarding services to our dog walking business. We are still being very strict about limiting our exposure to COVID-19, so rather than pet sit in someone else’s home, we decided to offer day care and boarding for dogs out of our home. That way we can have lots of puppy love at home again, and provide even more dog care services for local dog owners who need them.

In honor of our sweet rescue dog Truffles, Tail Wag Walkers helps support Beautiful Together Animal Sanctuary, Paws4Ever, and Orange County Animal Services from the proceeds we earn with our dog care services. Let us know how we can help you with your dog care needs!
